Wuhan Steel to launch 25m tpy Hubei iron ore project in 2009

Wuhan Iron & Steel's proposed 25 million tpy iron ore project in Enshi county, Hubei province, China, will start with an initial phase of just 500,000 tpy in 2009. "Our ultimate 25 million tpy capacity still stays, but the iron ore deposit has a high phosphorus content, which is not good for iron-making, so we decided to start small and expand when we are certain that the processing technology is mature and the cost is within expectation," a company spokesman said. The Enshi deposit has1.3 billion tonnes of determined resource, and Hubei-headquartered Wuhan Steel intends to build a 25 million tpy mine...
